Amidst the verdant embrace of Suan Sampran, stands a tree we hold in deepest reverence — the grand Kratum Na. It may well be the oldest living being in this sanctuary.

To seek the answer to the question:
“How long has this majestic tree graced our land?”

On May 27, 2025, Suan Sampran, in collaboration with the Tropical Dendrochronology Laboratory of the Faculty of Forestry at Kasetsart University, carefully collected samples from the Kratum Na’s wood using specialized tools. These samples were then studied, reading the growth rings to uncover the tree’s true age.

A tree’s rings are like the calendar of its life — chronicling its growth, its trials and transformations, bearing silent witness to the shifting seasons of earth and humankind. Each ring a memory etched in time, telling stories of the land and those who once walked upon it.

And the revelation left us both awestruck and profoundly moved:
this Kratum Na has stood here for 269 years.

To us, this tree is far more than a towering presence of timber and leaves. It is the venerable elder of Suan Sampran — a silent guardian of these grounds, gently carrying the tales of countless generations.

Many, when burdened by sorrow or in need of quiet strength, find themselves drawn to this wise old being, to confide their troubles or whisper their heartfelt wishes.

For we believe this Kratum Na is imbued with a profound benevolence, its spirit interwoven with the tender threads of nature, binding us all together in a gentle, unseen embrace.
